Swallow the capsule
A capsule holds the deflated balloon on a thin tube. 99.9% of patients can swallow it.

First X-ray
A quick X-ray confirms the capsule is in your stomach.

Balloon is filled

Second X-ray

Is the capsule easy to swallow?
The capsule holds the deflated balloon on a thin tube, and 99.9% of patients are able to swallow it. No surgery, endoscopy or anesthesia.
How is the balloon removed?
It isn’t removed in a procedure. After about 16 weeks it deflates and passes naturally.
How much weight can be lost?
The program is designed for 10–15% total body weight loss in about 16 weeks. Results vary from person to person; your physician will tell you what’s realistic for you.
What’s the difference between the Allurion Balloon and GLP-1s?
The balloon works mechanically by taking up space in your stomach for about 16 weeks. GLP-1 medications are prescription drugs. At SlimRestore our physicians can use either or both, where appropriate.
Will I put the weight back on?
The balloon is part of a program focused on food habits, goals and education, so the results last after it passes. Your coaching continues beyond week 16.

The Allurion Gastric Balloon is part of a behaviour modification program that lasts a minimum of 6 months and requires commitment to changing eating habits and increasing physical activity. It is not suitable for everyone, including people who are pregnant or have had esophageal or stomach surgery. Your physician will review your medical history to confirm eligibility.
Like any medical device, it can cause adverse events, some of which may require removal by endoscopy or, rarely, surgery.
